Working Smart

Working Smart

Working remotely have already become a trend for a lot of companies nowadays especially with working internet, you will definitely be connected no matter where you are.

At first glance, I thought working remotely might be difficult because you will be on your own, in your own comfort zone and doing your thing at your time but I realized  might be wrong. It might be true that you are in your own comfort zone and can do your job at any time but there is still a time frame, a due date or a date-line for your work.

Being a distant part-time student while working full-time already thrown me into this working remotely lifestyle. The advantages being choosing what you want to do over being a full-time of either – that makes a smart choice though it involves perseverance and hard work too. The downside will be you will not have enough time for anything else that is not concerned with what you do – hanging out with friends, meeting new friends through university or keeping them together.

From a few articles that I found online by Wade Foster on How to Run a Remote Team and by Maren Kate Donovan on 7 Best Practice Tips for Successfully Working Remotely, I was pretty surprised that this is exactly what we all need, not just for remote teams but even for face-to-face work mates or team mates. All you have to do is to find the right team, stick to it, and trust each other to be able to run the team smoothly. It is not easy to have team mates from different locations, backgrounds and different lifestyles, but with perseverance, trust and connection to the team, it will help to overcome many hardships – like, timing.

All in all, getting to know your team mates, trusting them to do their part, and supporting and cheering for each other, will get the team going no matter how hard things can be.

Working remotely is a wonderful work solution. There are so many positives on working remotely, but it depends on the nature of the jobs, the management supports, the technologies and self-motivation. It does not happen without all these elements support you. I can only dream of one day working remotely can come true. Sadly, it cannot be done, due to the nature of my job. But I will watch this space......

I'm obviously biased, but I agree that working in a remote team is a great idea, allowing for people to work comfortably at their own pace while being able to communicate consistently is definitely working well.
